Congratulations to Tiffin Year 9- Year 13 rowers who took part in the National Schools’ Regatta, the biggest junior rowing event in the UK, taking place at Dorney Lake. The event consists of a brutal time trial (TT) over 1900m, where those who make ‘the cut’ are placed into Finals.
On May31st, our Year 9 and 10s raced bravely, positioning themselves in the middle of the TT but were just outside the cut-off; lots of experience gained for crews that haven’t had much opportunity to race this season.
Across Saturday and Sunday, our Year 11 – 13s raced. We made 3 finals and came away with 2 medals, both from Year 11. The year 11’s (pictured above) performed out of their skins to a bronze in Tier 1 ( i.e. 3rd in the UK ) and a silver in Tier 2.
This is an amazing performance from not “big” rowers, and against schools where rowing is their main sport.
Thank you to the rowing staff and volunteer, Roy.
